Determinantes sociales de la salud asociados a discapacidad: revisión sistemática

Abstract

Introduction: Social Determinants of Health (…) are the circumstances in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Within the DSS model, disability is considered as a deficit, limitations in activity and restrictions in the participation of people. Objective: to present the evidence related to the association between DSS and disability. Methods: exploratory review. Articles from the years 2013 to 2021 were included, original articles with quantitative methodology that evaluated DSS and disability. Results: 42 articles met the inclusion criteria. It was found that older adults and women have greater disability. There is no significant association with disability for ethnic group and social position. People with disabilities have little schooling. They are more likely to report mental illness, more health problems, more likely to suffer from social exclusion. In addition to opportunities to access the labor market and lower working conditions compared to people without disabilities. Access to health services for people with disabilities is affected by the lack of money to attend, long waiting times and excessive paperwork. Conclusions: It is necessary to produce studies that adequately address DSS and disability in the Mexican context
