Abstract

Canellaceae family is a small family endemic to Africa and tropical America. The Pleadendron costaricense is the only species found so far in Central America and tropical America. This species has historically been used for the treatment of various conditions such as infections in the upper respiratory tract, among others. In one study, evidence of antifungal activity was obtained against the species Alternaria alternata, Candida albicans, Wangiella dermatitides and Pseudallescheria boydii. The present investigation which aims to analyze the theorical preformulation of a topical natural product with antifungal properties from the extracts obtain from the leaves and bark of the Pleodendron costaricense tree, was financed by the common fund of the Department of research and innovation UIA, seeks to propose a theoretical formulation of a natural antifungal topical product using the extracts obtained from the bark and leaves of the named species, for its subsequent development and stability analysis in a second stage.
