Abstract
In simple terms, hematuria is the presence of blood in the urine. It can be classified as gross hematuria (if the urine is visibly red) or microscopic (if red blood cells can be identified in the microscopic examination of urine).
There are several causes for hematuria, one more frequent among which are tumors, infections, lithiasis, and other rarer entities such as the nutcracker syndrome.
